Approximately 1,000 acres bounded by the Olentangy River on the east, between Fifth Avenue and King Avenue, were part of the original Hamlet of Marble Cliff, and was the unincorporated area called Sellsville. It was the winter home in the late 1800s for the internationally-known Sells Brothers Circus, which later merged with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Known for their collection of elephants, the Sells Brothers Circus used railroad cars to transport assets, rather than wagons, and at their peak used 47 custom railroad cars. The Grandview Heights' connection to circus lore continued well into the 2010s as animals from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus would disembark from their railroad cars and walk east along Goodale Boulevard and then north up Grandview Avenue eventually to the Schottenstein Center on The Ohio State University campus. People lined the streets to watch the annual "elephant walk" in Grandview Heights. This Sells Mural was created by Gabrielle Woods.
