From gracing the halls of Grandview Heights High School (GHHS) to collaborating with some of the best minds of the century, Diane Hennacy Powell, M.D. is truly inspiring.  

Diane’s family owned this home on Glenn Avenue from 1967-2000. Diane graduated from GHHS in 1973, earning honors as her senior class’s salutatorian. She received her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and her medical degree from John Hopkins University. She completed postdoctoral training in medicine, neurology, and psychiatry at John Hopkins.   

Today, she is an acclaimed author, public speaker, researcher, and practicing psychiatrist. Diane’s clinical practice and research has explored autism, gender influences, and women’s health. In 1996, she was part of a California think tank whose members included Dr. Francis Crick, of DNA-discovery fame. Diane has taught neuropsychiatry at Harvard Medical School, spoken at numerous national and international conferences, and been a consultant for the Dr. Phil talk show.    

Most recently Diane has been exploring the neuroscience of human consciousness and anomalous experiences. Her published books include “The ESP Enigma: The Scientific Case for Psychic Phenomena‘’ (author, 2008) and “Seriously Strange: Thinking Anew about Psychical Experiences ‘’ (contributor, 2012).  Diane is also a strong advocate for human rights; she co-founded the International Association of Women for Change and has participated in the United Nations Conference on Women and Children.
